MAKARA COUNTY COUNCIL.
5 At a meeting of the Makara County Council yesterday, at was decided to agree with tho suggestion of the Akitio County Council m support of an amendment to tlio present local government law in the direction of giving power to local bodies to establish a special accident fund for eninloyers over any area where required Having considered a circular letter, sent out by tho Government to local bodies regarding the importation of hardwood timbers from Australia, tho council decided that owing to the small quantity required 111 their county, it was not worth whilo them entering into the scheme.
