Mr, Race, one of the stock-brokcrs who acted for Mr. Lloyd-George, Chancellor of Iho Exchequer, ill his purchases of shares in tlio American Marconi Company, was examined to-day before Ihc'Parliamentary Committee, inquiring into the' contract between the Marconi Wireless Telegraphy Company, and tho Brilish Post Office. Mr. Race said he had advised Mr. LloydGeorge to sell his American Marconi chares becauso they were an undesirable investment, being over-capitalised. Replying to Sir Frederick Banbury, lie explained that ho had charged Mr. Lloyd-Cieorgo 7 per cent, representing tho brokers', bosides tho bankers', interest. Mr. Ileybourn, a stockbroker who accompanied Mr. Marconi and Mr. Godfrey Isaacs, of tho Marconi Company, to America, and issued tho American shares on the English market, described how Mr. Godfrey Isaacs took up half a million in shares. Tho witness, bolio'ving that tho shares would boom, took 250,000 from Mr. Godfrey 'Isaacs at IJ, and another two blocks of 50,000 cach nt 2J and 3 7-lGths oil the day before tho shares wcro availablo to the public. Tho witness refused to give the number of shares which lio had placed amongst his friends prior to April 19, but ho agreed to furnish tho names privately. Ho knew of no dealings by Ministers. SIR RUFUS ISAACS IN DEFENCE. (Rcc. April 10, 11.10 p.m.) i London, April 10.' Sir Rufus Isaacs, in speaking at the City Liberal Club dinner,' said ho did not complain of ' legitimate newspaper' criticism, but it would bo more fitting to tho House of Commons's .dignity if members, after remitting the Marconi incident to a committee, .withheld criticism pending tho committee's report, lio assured tho club that he had committed no act which would lead to tho forfeiture of their confidence and esteem.
