POLICE RAID.
• __—0 ' FIVE ARRESTS MADE. A tobacconist's ehop in Mercer Street, off Willis Street,. was tlio sceno of a police raid at 2.30 o'clock yesterday afternoon. , lMcctive-Sergeant Cassclls, accompanied by Senior-Sergeant Rutledge, "visited" the ehop unexpectedly, and apprehended five men, aijd escorted them to tho police station. Gilbert H. Price is to ba charged with keeping a common gaming-house, and Nelson Williamson and Bertram Cowles Williams with assisting in tho management of same, and Frank Campbell and Frederick Moss with being found on the premises. Tho police state that the shop has been under observation for. some time.
