NINE THOUSAND ACRES NEAR . MASTEIITON. Tlia Government; has purchased an ares of nine thousand acres in the Wciirarapa district, adjacent: to Masterton, for purposes of closer settlement. Tho estate includes fho property of Mr. Stone-Wigg and part of that' owned by Mr. W. H. Beetham. Tho • Government will not bo ablo to get possession of tho land for somo little time, but most of it is considered very suititblo for settlement, and the Government anticipate that it will be readily taken up.
