OVER 102 YEARS OLD.
TJie longevity of the clergy, and especially the country clergy, is a matter' of common knowledge- (says tile "Guardian"). Life insurance companies, indeed, aro usually prepared to grant better terms to the" clergy than to members of other professions. It is rare, however, that oven a clergyman can lay claim to over a hundred years of life; but', the Hcv. Philip Carlyou, of Palmouth, passed the milestone of a century nearly two years ago. He is now well into his ,102 nd year, having been born at St.. Mawgan in December, 1811. He graduated 2nd Senior Optimo from Emmanuel ■ College, Cambridge, three years, before Queen Victoria succeeded to the throne, and in 183G was a Tyrwliitt Hebrew Scholar. In tho same year ho was ordained. He well remembers tho battle of: "Waterloo, attends church every Sunday, and takes long walks in all kinds of weather.
