WAIRARAPA PRESBYTERY.
The Wairarapa Presbytery met at Mastorton yesterday, tho Rev. Q. K. Stowell being moderator. Elders' commissions in favour of Messrs. E. Feist'and 11. M'Gregor were sustained. The Rev. Mr. Davies, of Victoria, was associated. Tho Lansdowne congregation, having decided to build a manse, the consent of the Presbytery was asked for permission to borrow .£OOO, for which it was proposed to apply to tho century fund for a loan of. i;2(JO. —This; was agreed to. The sympathy of tlio Presbytery was extended to the Rev. J. S. Young, with the hopo that he may soon bo restored to health. The finding of the ■ Commission ra Pongaroa was approved. Tho baptismal certificate sent down by the' General for consideration met .with tho.Presbytery's approval. Tlio Revs. E. C.' Tennent, L. Thompson, and J. 'S. Xoung were appointed an Evangelistic Committee. . Arrangements were made to welcome Dr.' Kirk, of Canton, on May 30. In connection' with which a rally will tako i place in tlio afternoon, and a public meeting in tho evening. It was resolved at a future meeting to consider the appointment of a missionary to represent the Presbytery in tho for- ! eigu field. A remit from the Assembly on beneficiary funds, was dealt with, and the alterations approved. It was resolved that a grant for a year ' from tho augmentation'fund for Piihiatua be asked.
