Tho Hon. W. F. Massey will journey today from Hawera to Waverlev and will visit tlio State farm at Moumaliaki. The Hon. W. Eraser returned to Wellington, from New Plymouth on Saturday. Tlie Hon. R. H. Rhodes left for Christchurch on Saturday' evening. Tlio Hon. W. H. Herries, the Hon. A; L. Herd.nan, and the Hon.-Dr. l'omare are in Wellington, and the Hon. H. D. Bell is ; due to return from Auckland this' afternoon. At the Sunday School anniversary in connection with the Central .Mission yesterday the Rev. 13...0.- Blamires preached his farewell address, and Mrs. Blamires spoke in the afternoon.. In tho evening, at the King's Theatre, Mr. Blamires referred particularly to mission work as it concerned the mission people. The music at tho anniversary 'service was led by Mr; W. 13. Howe. Speaking at the evening service Mr. Blamires mado reference to tho departure of Sister Mildred to England and to the coming of his successor, the Rev. G. Knowlcs Smith, of Dunedin. It was also announced that Sister Alice would take the place of Sister Mildred. Dr. Kirk, medical superintendent of the Canton Village Mission of the l'resby. terian Church of New Zealand, is at present in Auckland, tho guest of the Rev. G. B. Monro. On severing his connection with tho staff of the JJ.I.C. Mr. Richards was entertained at a smoke concert at Godber'a on .Friday evening, when all good wishes for his futuro success were suitably expressed by several speakers. '■ Mr. Louis Cohen, of Wanganui, and hit, sister, Miss Cohen, who has been resident in London for some time, aro visitors to Wellington. Mr. R. E. Williams, who has been closoly associated with • the Waihi Cohipany sinco 1895, and who for a considerable period has held. tlio responsible post of acting-superintendent of tho Waihi mine, lias (writes our Auckland correspondent) resigned his position with the company, I with tho object of settling dowu to a quiet life alter over forty years spent in mining pursuits. In tho course of a week or two Mr. and Mrs. Williams will leave Waihi to take up their residenco in Auckland.- The Waihi School of Mines, tho Licdertnfel, and tho Bowling Club, with which institutions Mr. Williams has been actively connected sinco their incep tion, will by his departure loso a keen and valuable supporter. Mr. Walter Kirby, the tenor vocalist, was given a "welcome homo" by ' tho Mayor and several leading, citizens . of Auckland on Friday last, thoso present includig Bishop Cleary, the Hon. J. A. Tolo, and Mr. A. M. MytTS, M.P. In reply -to tho speeches made, Mr. Ivirby said ■that ho owed much to tho kindness of tho people of Molbourno, who, when his voice developed, considered it worth their while to send him to Europe for training; but throughout his experience in Europe he'had never forgotten, his native city of Auckland. Mr. Kirby is to sin» in Auckland 011 Monday next (April 14). Mr. H. G. Hill (Hill and Barton, Ltd.) is announced as a candidate for tho City Council.
