CHIHUAHUA DOGS.

$ The genuine Chihuahua dog is probably tho smallest, daintiest, and most affectionate of all toy dogs. Tile fame of theso dogs.is world-ivide. They coino' originally from the state of Chihuahua in Northern Mexico, and arc said to be the descendants of a breed nl' wild dogs that originally was a cross, between a small domesticated dog and a little wild animal found in remote parts of Northern Mexico. The distinguishing characteristics of Chihuahua dogs are their small size, varying from li to 5 pounds in weight; prettily shaped, amall feet, with the sinews of tho forelegs quito prominent; large mouse-like, erect ears; a prominent round forehead, beneath -which, the. prettilypointed noso stands out well; large pleading eyes that almos" speak to their owner; and a general neatness and daintiness seldom seen in any animal life. In disposition tho Chihuahua dog is exceedingly affectionate and very faithful. It is an ideal pet with an intelligence almost human, for which reason they are ideal companions for women. They are splendid little watch dog's, instantly giving tho alarm when strangers intrude. In colour tliev vary considerably. Tan, tawny gray, combinations of black and white, white and tan, and so on, are frequently seen.
