NATIVE LEASES.
Sir,—X am, I am sorry to say, a Nativo leaseholder. A Native leaso is only a mixture. We want Govern-, mcnt to advance' us • money to purchase the freehold from the Natives. They would linvo the freehold es security. I liavo applied to', the StoJte Advances Office and been unsuccessful. 4 If Government would'make it possiblo to. get money to pay the Natives for their land it would enable Nativo leaseholders to pret a start and make it productive. ' Mr. Masscy wants to get this Dominion's waste lands settled.; the. above concession would help many families on to the Ijincl, as all largo areas will soon have families dairying and working ouit the freehold. All who understand cows know the largo profits always made from, butter arid cheese. Our population is much too small at present. Too many good men. and womenwho would be healthier, richer, and happier on farms seem to concentrate in our centres and struggle to make a living. We. could do with those unfortunate women denied a vote in Britain. If wo can get advances from' Government to get th® freehold of our Native leases, we most tertainly will .sell on suitable terms to families, and thus help that. lasting prosperity in sight ahead.—l am. etc.. PIONEER, Oparau.
