VICTORIA COLLEGE HERETICS' CLUB.
« — The first annual meeting of the Victoria College Heretics' Club was held at Uio College.last Monday night at 8 o'clock.' Professor \yon Zedlitz, tho president of the club, presided over an enthusiastic mooting. The annual report showed that the club had been'successful beyond the utmost dreams of its founders, and had ; become a permanent factor in college life. Addresses to . the - club during the past year had been delivered by the following Bjs Honour Sir Robert Stout, Mr. John Gammell, Miss Christie, Miss Mac George, 'Professors Kirk, Hunter; Von Zedlitz, Mackenzie, and Picken, Rev. B. H Ward, Rev. W. Jellie, and.' Mr. HallJones, and the subjects discussed had been of tho widest, interest. Tho election of officers resulted as follows Patron, his Honour Sir Robert Stout; president, lrof. von. Zedlitz; vice-presidents, Professors Hunter, Laby, Mackenzie, and ' Messrs. John Gammell and F. A. do la Mare; executive committee, chairman (Prof. Hunter), vice-chairman (Mr. C; H Taylor), tho hon. secretary (Mr. P. R.. Broad); committee, above three and Miss Nicholls and Mr. F. G. Hall-Jones. It was decided to open the session on the evening of Friday, April 25, a-de-bate upon tho question of "Bible-Reading in {schools." The Heretics' Club was formed "at tho College last year, and has as its object the promotion of free and open ' discussion of problems of religion, philosophy, and art. Membership of the club -is open to all, who hold themselves free from tho traditional "A priori" methods of appro&ching such problems.
