'A. general effort is being made thi-oiijjli-ont tlio Dominion to strengthen the Civil Service Association—to resuscitate those branches that have dropped mil: of existence, and to increase the_ Membership of those which have remained in active existence. The association at present has a membership of about liiOO civil servants in all parts of tho Dominion, and it is anticipated that tliis number will be easily doubled or trebled as a result of tho activities now in progress. In Wellington there aro eight or nine hundred members, including three or four hundred who Im,vo joined during the past two or three months. • Additional member# are joining I he Wellington branch every day. A meetin? is to bo held in Auckland to-night with a view to resuscitating the branch of tho association in that centre. In Christcbnrch the association is reported to bo in a pretty healthy state, but in Dunodin, Invercargill, and Napier membership lias gone down to a minimum. It is now confidently anticipated, however, t that the membership •of the 'association will every- : where rapidly increase. A mass meeting of tho Wellington lirancli of tho association, open to intending members a.s well • as to members, is to be held next week.
