WEDNESDAY CRiCKET MANAGEMENT.
Sir,—l would be obliged if you .will , kindly allow me a little' space in reply to Chas. A. Wilson's iletter re above that appeared in Tuesday':! Dosuniok. Fancy C. A. W. being, amused, utterly surprised, ' and astonished. 'Phew I.'that's something ~ wo haver accomplished,'and ought to be .'prowl of; ' Tile Wellington Wednesday , Crioket Association has never been in a position to pay tho touring expenses, of teamsT so,sooner than not have any rc- ■ presenliative .matches th'o players have . always paid their own expanses. The public do not support our association in . the way that the Saturday associations are supported, hence our men are sports enough to pay their own way in everything. If the association did not send the teams away, perhaps C. A. W. tell us who did. Our friend is evidently . very much grieved about something, but is |hat any reason why lie should rush into printwithout first making; a few; inquiries. I am sure our association deeply appreciates his support'(3 in: helping, to swell the crowd last Saturday to give our boys a good send-off; Only 17.turned up. Perhaps so. Ono left by the next ; train, and .the rest were already iii Auckland. Two full teams played for us, and there were only three of. our clubs that were not represented. Is it news-to our friend to know tliat the secretaries ;'of clubs were notified, and well, aware .fit. least-three weeks before (late of departure that the teams\were going? Tho delegates from each club that sit'on the management committee knew of the trip early in December last.. Also,' as a junior selector, I inquired nt NeMown Park each Wednesday afternoon'for something over a mouth for names of thoso who were willing to go. At tho Basin Reserve the senior officers, I know, were active. What more could we do? I do not recogniso our friend's name as 0 Wednesday player. Anyhow, if lie has an , axe to - grind •'•through'. Jiot being disked, jly go;; lie must have it out with his oluV secretary. • As to. lint, being able .to get men . away en our trips, .why. (his is the only time wo hayo had any difficulty- at,all. It is quits tr«B that a player in each ten in was unpointed- by the financial committee vo look after his eleven. - This was rendered . necessary Owing to the Auckland Association not being able to put nil the boys up at one hotel, two had to bo spoken, each team staving at 011 c. What's wrong with that? I fail to'seo. whero our popular and energetic secretary, or any of the other honorary officers, have failed to dovtlieii" am,:'etc., .' ; ' ARTHUR J. WILLIAMSON. P. 55.— I might also , add' that,, there is not. 0110 mid-week'assobiation .iir'the iomimon that pays the touring expenses' of its representative , teams'. March 20, 1913. ' ,
