CRICKET. NO PLAY ON SATURDAY. As none of the grounds were fit for play 011 Saturday, all the cricket matches were postponed. The reported intention of Central to withdraw from the senior competition has not been put. into ellect definitely yet. llicre is said to bp much'dissatisfaction among the players of this club, but tho matter of giving up the game for'tl(o season lias not been considered by the committee. No doubt tho committee will meet shortly, and sonic definite decision will 1m made on behal&of the club. YACHTING. Last Saturday the To Kuril Cruising Club held a haudichn race for Mr. Pratt's trophy in a hard nor'-west breeze. The following boats competed:—Viking, (scratch), Wairero (<jmin.), Trixey (smin.), Rawene (7min.), and Mahaki (limin.). Ihe start was made from the Evans Bay slip wharf round Halswell buoy, then lo man-of-war buoy, aud back to startingn\?. e ' T he .' ,oa ts got well away together, Trixy leading till overhauled by Rawene, winch made out of tho bay on one board, closely followed by Trixy and Viking. On Saturday afternoon the Brooklyn Harriers held a rim from To Aro Baths, a fair muster of members taking; part. The course was selected by Captain Wilton, which led from tho baths up to Mount Victoria, along the ridge to Constable Street, and back to tho starling point, via Evans Bay, Roseneath, and Oriental Bay. A run-in ,was held over tho last GOO yards, which resulted in a win for G. Millais, with L. Brown and A. S. Oliver finishing second and third respectively. The club president, Mr. Ballantyne, will officially open the season next Saturday at Worser Bay, a special car leaving Courlenay Placo at 2.15 sharp. ,

WELLINGTON GOLF CLUB. ANNUAL REPORT. The annual report of the Wellington Golf Club shows, that there is a creuU balance of iillS Bs, 2d., for (lie year:—This 6uni has been transferred to Hie accumulated fund, and the. balance lying to tho credit of this account, viz., .£452 12s. lid., has been utilised for the purpose of writing down the club's assets. The table mortgage of .£IOOO has been reduced 1 during the year out of revenue by .£62 lis. Sd. On, March 31 next it has been arranged to repay .£3OO off the Trust and Agency Company's mortgage by utilising the amount on deposit with tho New Zealand Investment Co., Ltd. The committed records with ■ regret the deaths of Messrs. Charles Bateson and E. 11. Ileal). It wus largely due tn the efforts of Sir. Bateson that the club is now in possession of such a valuable property. The club is indebted to Sir Joseph Ward for two handsome cups to be competed for annually by members, llie committee places on record the services rendered by the ground staff in eonflection with the Men s (N.Z.) Championship, under most trying circumstances. The club's residential quarters aro now most comfortable, and aro largely uiyd by members. A telephone lias been installed in the club house.
