Mrs. Duncan had been boarding with Mr. and Mrs. W. Burton, at 54 Hankey Street, for the past week. She had been employed in a situation in Hawkestone Street for a fortnight, but tile work was too hard for her, and she left. She had been in general bad health for somo time, and was discharged from the hospital on February 5 after undergoing an operation. Mr. and Mrs. Burton ivere sitting witlr Mrs. Duncan, in the kitchen of their house, when the last-named fell off her chair on to the floor. Mrs. Burton picked her up and laid her on a couch, and sent for Dr. Mackin, who, on arrival, pronounced lifo extinct. Mrs. Duncan leaves a married daughter, Mrs. H. Darrell, whose address is given as Mount Pleasant. An inquest will lie held at 9.30 a.m. to-day.

Another sudden death reported is that of llr. Alex. Sample, a retired merchant, 05 years of age, who resided iat Island Bay. Yesterday at about 5.30 p.m. he went out for a walk with his wife and daughter-in-law. Feeling ill shortly after leaving his house, Mr. Sample returned, but, soon after doing so, expired. Dr. Deamer having furnished a certificate that death was due to heart failure no inquest will 1)0 necessary.

An unmarried labourer named Win. Oliver O'Reilly died suddenly yesterday at 11.30 a.m. at No. 4 Lome Street. O'Reilly is said (o have been ti native of Dublin olid was 50 years of age. He had lived for two years at No. 4 Lorno Street. Horace Jey, who occupies the • house, states that O'Reilly was in the kitchen at about 11.30 a.m., and that ho stooped down to pull out a bag of potatoes. .While so engaged he fell down, and on being picked up was found to bo dead. He had not been attended by any medical man. So far as is known, O'Reilly had no relations in the Dominion.
