"TOO TALL A STORY."
RETURNS FROM FRUIT-GROWING. (By Telegraph—Press' Association.) Dunedin, March 27. To-day Mr. William Lowe (secretary for the Central Otago Fruitgrowers' A»sociation). callcd at'the "Daily Times" Office in connection with a statement made by Mr. .M'Donald (president'of the.New Zealand Association of Nurserymen) at the conference of nurserymen in Auckland on Tuesday, in regard to returns secured from the fruit-growing industry. Mr. M'Donald mentioned the case of an Otago grower wlio last year secured a gross »«- turn of .£2001) from a fruit farm of 12 acres. Mr. Ixnve said "that it-was too tall a story to ask anyone to believe, ana we. want to warn the public against being misled by reports as to results obtained, from fruit-growing. /Wo have written to the press in times past about similar reports. This statement by Mr. M'Donald is pretty far-fetched. Wo want to (liscourage people from going in tor ' rul, tgrowing on areas from which they will not get enough. The story that a man made .£2OOO gross retur.u from. 12 acres is inclined to mislead people, and we . tiro determined to guard them against this '6ort of thing." . -
