SEASON TO OPEN APRIL 12,

The first of this year's meetings of tho management coniniitteo of the AVollington liu'by Union was held last night. Mr. E. O.- Hales presided, and there were present, also, Messrs. W. Perry, D. Weir, W. Hardham, G. Howe, E. Little, and H. Buck. It was decided to hold a seven-a-side tournament on Saturday, April 5, and lo open senior and fifth-class championship contests on April 12. At the Hamilton tennis tournament Mrs. Scott Watson (Hamilton) beat Miss Steele (Auckland) in the championship, ;j g G—3, 9—7. Dr. Gower and James (both of Hamilton) play off for the men's championship. Mrs. M'Carthy (Cainbridge) won tho handicap singles. Dr. Gower the men's handicap singles, Snellin» - Brothers ' (Auckland) the men's doubles and Mrs. Dillicar and Miss M'Diarmid (Waikato) the ladies'doubles. Mrs. Scott Watson and Dr. Scott Watscn play off with Miss Wflkinson anu James in the combined doubles.

THE DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIPS. The lawn tennis championship t'ournament cam© to a conclusion on tho Palmerston North courts on Tuesday. Tho men's singles proved an easy victory lor Ollivier, who beat Swainson in the final, G —S, 6—2. In the final of the championship men s doubles, Ollivier and Collins defeated Druce and Swainson. / In the men's handicap singles • (A grade), Addison beat Swainson, GO—s7. Addison had 5 points and Swainson was on scratch. i , In the men's handicap doubles anal, Ollivier and Collins registered another 'win.

SEATOUN COLLEGE SPORTS. A goodly number of appreciative people —composed in the main of parents and friends of the boys—attended at Seatoun Park yesterday, tho occasion being the annuai sports of the Seatoun Preparatory College. A programme of athletio events was got off, under the supervision of Mr. Pollard, of the Permanent Artillery; and ihysical instructor to the colleee; Dr. Morton, Major Ilume, and Mr.. _D. M'Grath' acted as judges of the various events. The visitors were entertained to afternoon tea by the Sisters of Mercy, who conduct the college.
