Wedding at Tangiwai. An. interesting event in the history of Tangiwai. lvas the marriago of Miss Elo Syme,' only daughter of Mr. Geo. Syme, jim., of Syme, Ltd., to Mr. G. 11. Hobbs, of tlio mill staff, on Wednesday, March 19. Tho' wedding service was performed at the residence of tho bride's parents at. Tahpiwai, by the Rev. J. E. Parsons, of Taihape. The bride • was goivnod in white over pale pink with a veil and orange blossoms. She was attended by Miss Annie Hobbs, sister of the bridegroom, wearing a pretty heliotropo costume, with picture hat to match, and .little. Mils Rutli Vosper dressed in white. Mi\ W. Syme,,. brother of the bride, was groomsman. Miss Amy Norton officiated at the organ. The wedding breakfast v. as laid in the Tangiwai Hall, where about sixty guests assembled. The usual toasts were honoured ihaii.enthusiastic manner. The bridegroom's gifts to the brido wero an ebony-backed hair brush and silvermounted comb, and to the bridesmaids wero given gold brooches. Tho gift of the bride to the bridegroom was a gold tieclip. Mr. and Mrs. Hobbs left for Auckland, where the honeymoon is to be spent.

Carnival at Seatoun. The spirit of carnival is in the air, and other places 'than Wellington havo. been seized with the same desire—that of combining pleasure with profit for the purpose of beautifying tho'city and outlying districts. Yesterday the Howling' arid Tennis .Club at Seatoun held a carnival at the bowling green for tho purpose of obtaining funds with, which to provide a oroquct ground for the ladies. Ground itself is available, but not the wherewithal with which to lay it oiit for that, purpose. A bowling and laivn tennis tournament was Arranged. . A l'ink tournament iii which visitors from Newtown and tlio Hiitt took part, was played off on tho greens in the afternoon. Tho younger mohibers of tho club entered for the tennis tournament. Stalls aiid various sideshows provided much attraction and excellent business was transacted, the residents bf Seatoun and neighbouring suburbs appartuitly taking much iiiterSst in the undertaking. The All Nations' Fair. Tho All Nations' Fair, which is being held nil. this week and part of the iiext ill the Green Street Hall lit Newtown, was , largely attended last evening, <tnd excellent business was transacted. Dancing was again the principal attraction of tho evening, tho Highland flings and sailor's hornpipes meeting with, much approbation from all present. 'Tho children taking part in the danced Have been trained by Miss Johnson. The executive committee consist of the Yen. Archdeacon Devoy (chairman), Messrs.
