Chia, formerly of the Chinese Consular staff, ha 3 been committed for trial on a charge of wounding with intent to murder. \ /The evidence showed that Chia had been discharged from tho consulate employ by the Chinese, Government. He intimated his intention of returning to China, and sought to obtain from Mr, Tung Liang Hwang introductions to Ministers. . He' was annoyed at not obtaining these, and when he -was asked to leave the office ho commenced shooting. After - his arrest Chia' deolared that he intended to kill Hwang because ho had abused him, and he would then kill himself.
