The American Lawn Tennis Association has cabled asking that tho preliminary round of the Davis Cup shall be played in America instead of in England, stating that it is impracticable to play in England by Juno 21, the time fixed for tho completion of the anatch. The association suggests that if Australasia is unable to agree to -play in America tho match should bo played on .Tune 23 after tho All-England championships. The association undertakes to furnish a substantial guarantee if the match is played in America.
