PETONE BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The ordinary meeting of the Petone Borough Council was held last evening, and was attended by . the, Mayon ;(Mr. J. Mr. M'Ewan, and Councillors Short;' List, Trueihaii, Piper, Brocklebank, and Cox.

St.. Augustine's Ladies' Hockey Club made application for two grounds, on the Petone Recreation Grouiid. The Wednesday/Hockey. Cfiib also applied for a ground to play mid-week matches.—Both applications were grante^. Mr. John Smith wrote, stating; that in going to a. Salvation Army picnic with children in his, car, one of tho front springs v liad been broken in going over the obstructions across the Hutt Road. •He asked to bo recouped the cost, 9s.—Oil the motion of Councillor List, it was resolved to inform Mr. Smith'that no liability could bo recognised. The Wairarapa Automobilo Association also diew attention to the' obstructions placed on the Hutt Road.—The letter .was received. ''
