MAWSON EXPEDITION.

Professor David state that from n scientific viewpoint the results of Dr. Hawson's expedition are brilliant, and have exceeded the most sanguine expectations. He adds:—"ln the opinion of Commander Evans as well as of Mr. Priestly and myself, Captain Davis did absolutely the right thing in deciding to hasten to the rescue of Wild. Nobody can attacfi the least blame to him for the second decisiop to proceed straight from Wild's base to Australia. No doubt Dr. Mawson ■will be among the first to commend Captain Davis's action." Commenting on the results. Professor David says that probably no Polar expedition has a finer sledging record for the time than Mawson's main party and Wild's party. Hobart, March 17. The sledging, figures of the main base party are 2810 miles, and Wild's party IGIS, a total of 4425 miles.
