WANGANUI JOTTINGS.
(By Telegraph— Special Correepondent.) Wanganui, March 16. Mr. T. B. Williams announces himself as 51 candidate for the Mayoralty. All three candidates are sitting members of the Borough Council. Mr. S. J. Gordon, manage' of tho Wanganni branch of the Union Bank, has ten transferred to ,T,iniarn. He will be succeeded here by Mt. A. 11. Glasgow, of New Plymouth. The first year's working of the Wanganui Technical College under the new system, i.e., technical and secondary school combined, has resulted in a loss of ,£IOOO, which lias been partly met by a grant of .£40.0 from the Rees Bequest. Owing to the multiplicity of the; subjects in the curriculum and the consequently large the expenses are' necessarily heavy, but, educationally, the college is making good, and as the toll oontinues to increase steadily it is anticipated that' two or three years will see the financial deficit converted into a surplus. . , ■
