The Hon. W. P. Massey (Prime Minister) anil the Hon. R. H. Rhodes are at Christ'church, and tho Hon. W, H; Herrics and the Hon. W. Fraser are at Auckland. The Hon. Dr. Pomare wenlt to New Plymouth on Saturday. The other Cabinet Ministers nro in Wellington. The Hon. ,W. Fraser arrived in Auckland by the _\Wimmera yesterday (states a Press Association message). He loaves to-night for Whangarei, Davgaville, Mangonui, and Kaitoa. .
The Hon. F- M. B. Fisher is_ not yet fully restored to health, and, acting upon tho advice of his doctor, lias abandoned his projected southern journey. Instead of leaving tile Bluff for Australia., Mr. Fisher will leave from Auckland by tho Maheno, on March 21.
General Godley, Commandant of tho New Zealand Forccs, arrived from tho south by the Maori yesterday morning.
Mr. E, T. W. Mnclaurin, of tho Christehnrch Customhouse, is at present ActineCollcctor ait AV-ellington, vice Mr. W. Rose. Acting Collector, who has been appointed Collector at Timaru.
Mr! D. Blackie, who has resigned the secretaryship of the 'Wellington Drivers' Union in order to take up o position with a large sawmilling Arm in the King Country, left for the north on Saturday. On Friday evening Mr. Blackie was entertained by the commillteo of the, Drivers' Union, and a few other friends in the Labour movement. Mr. Walter Ritson, president of the union, acted as chairman, and proposed the health of the guest of tho evening, and presented him with a case of pipes, and a dressing-case for Mrs. Blackie. Supporting speeches were mado by Messrs. Si. J. Reardon, M. Laracy, and A. Parlane, the. last-named of whoin has succeeded Mr. Blackie as secretary of tils Drivers' Union. Tho retiring secretary held that office for about nine years. The Public Service Commissioners are due to return to Wellington on Thursday next.
It is stated that Mr. Wm. Belcher, exchairman of the Otaeo Harbour. Board, and secretary of the local branch of the Seamen's Union, will bo a candidate for the Mayoralty of Duncdin.—Press Association,
Mr. Leslie Reynolds left Wellington for Nelson by tho Navua on Saturday evening for the jiurpose of making further investigations in connection with the harbour improvement schemo.
Dr. T. H. A. Valintino, Inspector-Gene-ra] of Hospitals, and Dr. J. P. Frengley, medical secretary, arrived in 'Welling, ton from tho south by the Maori yesterday morning.
Mr. Manoah Peach, of Rangiora, died at his residence, Ashley Street, early on Friday morning. He was born at Huntingdon, England, in 1840, and spent some years of his early life in Australia, Coming to Now Zealand in the early.'sixties, ho was engaged' for sometime carting stores to tho Otaco goldfields. Forty-five years ago he made his homo in North Canterbury, acquiring land at Ashley, which ho farmed with considerable success, 110 always took a keen interest In farming, and was one of those who helped to resuscitate the Malvern Agricultural and Pastoral Association, in 1874, after it had been dormant for five rears. He was n noted breeder of draught horses and Shorthorn cattle,- and his name figured prominently as a-prize-taker at the agricultural shows in Canterbury.
