EDUCATION OF BOYS.

IN CAMP AT ALMADALE. At the present limo there are '£8 lads i in. camp on Mr. E.'Short's farm at Alma- : dale. The bqys are under Mr; Graut and Mr. Banner, of the . Wanganui Education ! Department, and they are receiving instruction in the management and development of horses, cattle, and sheep. Yesterday morning Mr. Short was to take the lads to Parorangi to giv l e them instruction, in sheep, and Mr. Hector Booth and Mr. Hugh Burrell were also to spend tlio morning there on the same errtind. On Thursday afternoon Mr. Fred. Pirani (chairman of tho board), Mr. G. D. Braik (Director .of Education), and Mr. W. F. Bramwell visited Almadale, and watched a lesson on draught horses being given.by Mr. Short's manager (Mr. Carruthers). The lads paid strict attention to t'ho instruction, taking copious notes and handling the liorsssto ascertain tho. extent ofH'Heir knowledge. A judging competition of yearlings was held, ten- jjeldings being selected for the test. The judging of two boys—Belfit, of Fcilding, and Delves, ,of Gonville—coincided with that of. the instructor in regard to the best throe horses, and no fewer than 14 of the students picked two out of the three best. . The camp will break up this morning.
