WIRELESS MESSAGE FROM THE NAVIGATOR.
The Mayor was rather startled yesterday at' the receipt of an urgent wireless message. Fancying that some vessel might bo in distress in tho vicinity, of the port, he broko upon the message hurriedly and to his amazement read: "In longitude 171' latitude 40. .Expect to mako Lyall Bay about 3 p.m. Saturday. Tho porker is well. Captain Cook." . Ho at once replied as follows: Captain Cook, Tho Endeavour,—Kei te mihi atu to iwi o Poneke. Haero mail to lianga ; tira nui mo o whanaunga pakeha cngan ia ho mihi nui atu kite poaka.—Rawiri. Translated, Mr. Mlnren's messago reads: "Greetings from the people of Wellington.' Welcome to tho great cliiof and to Ms pakeha brethren, also a spccial welcome to the porker.—David. In explafaation of tho above it should bo stated that tho shades of Captain Cook and his merry men will arrive at Lyall Bay in'time to participate m tho big surf gala to bo held on Saturdajr afternoon. A modernised Endeavour will also figure in tho proceedings.
