aJIIT. n ant * Mercautilo Ageijiy Co.. Ltd., report:—At Solway, on iuosaay, there wa« a good entry of sheep ana & good attendant of buyers. Bidding was considerably brisker than at the previous eale, and consequently the majority of liii£43 changed hands. Grjr entry consisted principally of lambs, all of which we sold under the hummer at the following rates:—Fair-conditioned black-faces, 7s. 6d. to 7s. 9d.;.small" do., Cs. to 6s. lCd. • The I&w Zealand Loan and -Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report:—We held 1 a clear* ing sale at Ohau, on Monday last, when we ottered the whole of the stock, etc.; belonging to Mr. ,T. U. Taylor. There wa-'i a largo attendance of buyers from all parts of the surrounding' district, and under keen com-\ petition every lot changed hands at satisfactory prices. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd.. report as follows:—'We held our.usual monthly sale at Pahautanui yards on I'ntrles were fair, and there was only a moderate attendance of buyers. The sab opened very dragging, and continued so throughout the auction, and quite a number of pens were turned out unsold. We sold:—Late lambs, to 9s. 3d.; woolly lambs, to &?. 6d.; shorn lambs, to 6s. 6d.; rami, to 16s. £d. ••• • Messrs. Messrs. Williams and Kettle, Ltd.. report holding, their Woudvlllo and Weber r.ales on March 10 and 11 respectively. There was a gorul yarding of sheep and cattle nt Woodvillc. which met with a very dragging £ale. They report the following priccs:—Cull- ewes. 25.. 9d. to. 4?. lid.; cull lambs. 3s. lid.: shorn wether tombs, 'Bs.; f.m. ewes, 9*. Id., Lincolu-Lclcestv-r crossbred rams, Ign to 2gr.s.: fat cows. £4 17s. to £5 35.: mixed-sax wean ens, 28s. 6d. to 30s. At Weber, there wais a very small yarding offered to a small numbcr § of buyers. The following prices were realisedß.M. ewes 75.; empty heifers, £2 10s.; -18-month steers, £2 10s.; weaners, £!. ' i ADDINGTON MARKET. (By Telegraph.—Press Association) Chrlstchurch, March 12. At Addington live stock market there were large entries of stock and a good attendance. Fat cattle sold at the previous week's rates. 'Tat lambs were easier in consequence of the rush of stock at tho freezing works. Store sheep sold well, especially ewes and lambs, except forward lots being a little easier. Fat sheep were irregular, but sold at about last week's priccs. There was a largo entry of fat lambs, totalling 7749, the bulk being well grown and of prime quality. Prices paid wore about equal to sd. to 5Jd. per lb. Best lambs made 16s. to 19s. 7d.. a few extra to 215.; lighter, 13s. 3d. to 15s. 6d. There were about 4000 fat sheep penned, made up chiefly of ewes. with a few pens of prime wothers and several lines of wethers. The priens was:—Prime wethers, 18s. to 21s. lid.; -lighter,. 14s. 7d. to 17s. 6d.; merino wethers, 12s. to 155.; extra prime ewes, to 245.; prime, lfc. to 215.; medium. 13s. 6d. to 15s. 6d.; aged and light, 10s. to. 13s. There was an entry of 252 fat cattle, as compared with 194 last week. Prices showed no change,- being equal to 225. 6d. to 303. per ICOlb., according to Quality. Steers made £9 to £13 7s. 6d.: heifeiv, £6 to £10 55.; and cows, £5 17s. 6d. to £10 12s. sd.
Store cattle formed a fair yarding, but prices were easier: 15. to 18-month steers' made £3 to £3 175.; two-year steers. £4 63.; two and a halt-year steers. £5 13s. 6d.; two.year heifers. £3 10s. to £4 2s. 6d.; threeyear cows made £4 10s. to £11 bs. There was a medium entry of fat nips, but a pood demand, and the prices from last week were maintained. Choppers ran from £3 10e. to £5; baeouers, 506. to 555.: heavy nigs. 575. 6d. to 70s. Prices eoualled sd. to s}d. per-lb. Porkers sold os follow:— Heavy, 42a. to 475.; lighter kinds, 36r. to 40s. (equal to 53d. to 6d. per ll>.). Medium stores made 3P«. to 375.; smaller, 225. to 283.; woaners, Bs. to IBs.
