RIVER BOARD LOAN.
HUTT PROPOSAL REJECTED. Yesterday a poll was taken of ratepayers in the extended district of the Hutt River Board, to determine" whether the board should raise a loan\ of .£2OOO .for the purpose of ■ constructing protective works in the upper reaches of the river. The proposal was rejected by 34 votes. Polling was extremely quiet. There were approximately 140 votes available, but of these only 61 were cast. Tho voting was as under:— For the proposal 13 Against 47 Informal 1 Majority against 84
