(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) : Auckland, March 10. Shortly after F.nster the double express servico 'between Auckland «ml .Wellington will bo discontinued. During the winter months only tho former service, of one express each way will be maintained. A statement to this effect was made by the Minister for Railways today. . ■ • , . ... Asked for an explanation of Ins decision to reduce the service, Mr. 1 Terries said he could not give any detailed information, but; ho said, the trallic had not justified the maintenance of the double service. Although one through train 'dailv would be adequate for the winter months, greater facilities would be required in summer, and the double seivice would be resumed, probably early in November, and continued till March. .Mr. Ilerries added that an augmented servico wulil certainly ho necessary next summer to carry tho heavy traffic that \uniUl ho induced by tho Auckland .Exhibition. Anticipating that ail abnormally lnvM number of people would travel on .'no railways during the Exhibition period, lio had authorised an increase ill new rolling stock. New passenger coaches ami goods wagons were being specially built, for this period.
