FIRES AT LOWER HUTT.
At about half-past one on Saturday the firo brigade was called- out to suppress an outbreak of fire at the waterworks pumping station, Kiverbank Street, Lower Hutt. It is .supposed that the fire was caused through _ai generator becoming overheated. The buUjline is of concrete, and the only damage done was to the wooden portion of tho roof. No damage was done to the machinery. The building was uninsured. At about three o'clock yesterday afternoon, the Hutt Brigade received another 'call, to tho Anglican Boys' Home, in ! Camp I?oad. From what can be gathered the nre started in tho storeroom, but the smart effort on tho part of the brigade saved tho other rooms, of which thero were sis. The storeroom was, however, gutted. The contents of the dwelling were greatly.-:damaged through heat ana smoke. The house and contents are insured, but.,'the amounts are not known. The inmates' of-the home were away at the lime of the fire, and'it is impossible to state how the outbreak occurred.
