HEAVY TOMATO AND PEACH SUPPLIES. Supplies of practically all lines of fruit with the exception of peaches have eased this week. Peaches, however, are still coming to hand'in large quantities, and except for exceptionally choice lots, prices are in'buyers' favour. Apples, especially cooking sorts, are now in better demand, and prices have improved 011 last, week's rates. The Australian shipment this week was on rather the light side, grapes being practically the only line from Sydney, and pears from Melbourne. Both shipments arrived in fair condition only, and prices varied considerably 011 that account. Tomatoes are now in very heavy supply, and prices fell as low as Is. (Id. for choice lines yesterday morning. Yesterday's approximate values were:—

Cabbage are now* in better demand, the choice lots being worth ss. to 55.'6(1. per sack, and others 2s. 6d. to 45.; choice cauliilowers, 9s. to 12s. 6d. per sack, others ss. to 65.; carrots, 3s. to 3s. 6d. sack; parsnips, 3s. to 3s. 6d. sack; white turnips, 2s. 6d. to 3s. sack; swede turnips, 2s. 6d?~ per cwt.; beetroot, 3s.
