THE FARMERS' SCHEME. The scheme for providing workers' homes in the country 'whs discussed ">t the meeting of the Auckland Farmers' Union executiflb on Wednesday. The "secretary (Mr. A. Sclrmitt) reported upon the success of the recent conference be. tween Mr, Lorn as (secretary of lialxiur). Mr. Ritchie (Commissioner of Lands), aUd the Advisory Committee of the union. Mr. Dnniield- moved: "That the I'rimfc Minister be asked to obtain a special report from Messrs. Ijomns and Ritchie as to their views!of the scheme as submitted, especially as to the necessity of Guarantees." Major Lust then read the following letter, which lie had just received from Mr. J. G. Wilson, Dominion president of the New Zealand Fnrmers' Union;—" Glad lo seo you had placed a practical scheme beforo tlio Prime Minister mrnrding workmen's dwellings in the country. I hope it will bo carricd out successfully. It has long been ft hope in my mind thnt we should be able to do something practical in the housing scheme., We so sadly want workers who will live and brim their families up in the country, I congratulate you and your executive on getting so far, and hope you will nr-jds tlio matter until acconmlished."
