Messrs. Dalgety.and Co., Ltd., report on their Solway Gale as follows:—An exceptionally heavy yarding of sheep of all classes was offered to a large attendance of buyers. Our entry totalled 36C0, of which we sold 2800, practically all oi whic.,l were sold under tho hammer. The demand ..for .good ewes was quite up to that of last sale, but inferior sorts and medium tombs wore- rather dull at eale. Included in our -entry we offered on account of Messrs. Osmond Brothers, of Jlai-nui-o-.ma.pn a nice lino of 850 four and five-year breeding ewes, the top end of SCO realising 13s. 3d., and the balance . Us. These prices must bo considered highly satisfactory. Ernest Lcighton Teports that at their horee sale held .at Ilutt on Wednesday there was au exceptionally large attendance, buyers being present from oil parts, including Wiiirarapa. and Manawatu. Every horse offered on account of Mr. E. Hiddiford waseold. Light halfdraughts sold up to £20. Ilabke and light horses, unbroken, from £3 15s. to £13. There were a large number of outside entries, but being chiefly aged horses wire slow of sale. Aged van horses fetched from £6 to £14. BTJKNSIDE MARKET. The nuitllty was much better than it has been for sonic weeks. Fjxporters were operating freely, and last "wceh's rates were fully maintained. Prime, 16a. to 17*. Gd.: estra, to 20s. 6(1.; medium, 14s. 6(1. to 15s. 6d. Customs duties collected at the port, of Wellington yesterday amounted to £6455 lie. 10d.
