MID-WEEK CRICKET.
SIXTH ROUND. UNION SCORE A GOOD WIN. "Last smack" in the sixth round of the mid-week competitions was rcia'hed yesterday afternoon on. the Basin lieserve. As usual, all the wickets were in good condition.
In the match Oriental-Rivals, Rivals wanting .12 runs ami la minutes to play, just failed by 2 runs when time v, ( is called. The time was taken by the Iloeuer clock, which was two or three ir.inutes last, and considering that the game was not started to time, and that one cf the Oriental players kept the field waiting about six minutes before appearing at the wickets, the association should make these clubs play out the extra time. Union made a great win over Vivian. The latter, playing nine men, were all disposed of tor 52 runs in their second innings, this , rather astonishing result being due to the fine bowling of Warne and O'Sullivau.
Y.11.C.A. managed ,a four-'poiut win over Artillery. Y.M.C.A., with 117 on for four wickets, were all out for 148.' The Rev. E. 0. Blamires only added 1 to his score when ho was taken by a fine catch in the slips by Wilson. Artillery, in their second innings, made 118 for seven wickets, and declared their innings closed. This left the Y.11.C.A. 87 runs to get, which they achieved with,a few minutes to spare. Union now have a lead of 6 points in the competition. HONOUR BOARD. Batting. Bowiiug.
