ARBITRATION COURT.
INTERPRETATION GIVEN. The Arbitration Court lias delivered its d?ris'on in connection with the AVaollen stills' Union for an interpretation mi tile i'etone-AVollingt'in Woollen Mills Award. At the hearing Jlr. I). M. Vindlay n;>peai'i-d for the union, and Mr. A. \V. Blair for the employers. The question was whether female workers could be employed as "warpers" at the wages specified for girls in "weekly wages." The award prov'dnd (under the heading of "wags* for male workers over 21 years") that: "warpers" should receive ■C 2 IGs. . per week. The wages provided for girls ranged from B>. per week to .£1 .Is. per week. The union asked for a declaration that no women were to be employed'as "warpers," or that, if so employed. they were to be paid men's wages.
