, MAGISTRATE'S COURT. THE BUTCHER., SMALL-GOODS MAN'S' PAY. Dr. M'Arthur, S.M., gave judgment in tho case in which the Inspector of Awards proceeded against Barber and Co., butchers, for- employing J. Lebherg as a smallgoods man at £2 llis., instead of 10s. per week. His Worship held that as Lebherg was employed for more than two-thirds of his time at small-goods work he must be paid the .£'3 10s. He considel'cd that a breach of the award had been-committed by the defendant company, who would be fined >£l. ■ CONTRACT DISPUTE. In a contract dispute between Edward Ross Sweeney and James Scott, judgment was delivered by Dr. M'Arthur, S.M. The claim was for .£2l Is. as the balance duo for work done and material supplied on a contract for kerbing and channelling. Defendant counter-claimed ,£l6 3s. for work done as a sub-contractor. Judgment was given for tho plaintiff for the amount claimed, and for the defendant for the aftiount counter-claimed. PURCHASE OF A FROCK. Edith .t'/.i's, Hill Street, Wellington, sued Frank P. Morrison, traveller, Wellington, for .EG 2s. for a frock said to have been purchased by his wife. Tho defendant counter-claimed for .£2 lis. 9d. as for material used. Mr. H. E. Anderson appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr. ,H. F. O'Leary for the defendant. His Worship gave judgment for plaintiff in the claim .for .£3 65., with costs <£1 lGs., and for defendant on the counterclaim for £1 18s., with costs 2s. THE WATER-METER. John Varcoe sued Edward Hcllawell for .£2 10s., which amount was alleged to'bo due for a water-meter.-Mr. R. Sladden represented the plaintiff, and Mr. A. Fair the defendant. Audrey:- Olscn was remanded till .Saturday on a charge of his having stolena garden hose beluiiijins to Grace Glover. The theft is alleged to havu been committed on November 1- of last year. INSOBRIETY. For insobriety May Gibbon was fined £1.
