CRICKET. HOUSE DEPARTMENTS' MATCH. A cricket match was played 011 Saturday at Kclburnc l'nrlc by Messrs. W. M. Bammtyiio and Co., Ltd., -Ixstweon teams .selected from tho Sales and Shipping and Accountants' Departmonts, the former winning by 120 to 73, tho chief scorers being: Binnie 38, A. Lowe 32, E. Caldow 32, A. Geary 13. Previous to tho cricket match, a 100 yards running championship was held, Moss Lowe winning, with G. Desmond second. Walshe, the well-known representative footballer, is seriously ill in an Auckland hospital with peritonitis. His condition was for a time critical, but a private telegram received by Mr. B. Magee, secretary of tho Ponoke Football Club, states that the patient had improved "slightly on Saturday, and is now expected to recovcr. J. TILYAED BACK AGAIN. The Ponoko half-back, J. Tilyard, has been transferred from Wanganui back to "Wellington, and will Ije playing .for his old club again this season. ATHLETICS. , THE CASH BASIS MEN. A general meeting of the newly-formed Cash Athletic and Cycling Club is to bp held at tho Trocadero this evening. All interested aro- invited to attend. At this meeting the officers of tho now body will be elected, and business dealing with the proposed engagement of Postle and • alker for a meeting in Wellington will bo discussed. THE COLLEGE CLUB'S ANNUAL. Tho jjnnual sports meeting of tho Victoria Collego Amateur Athletic Club is to tako plaoe at the Wellington College grounds at 2.30 p.m. ,on Saturday next. 1 . The second round of the water polo championship was continued at the To Aro Baths last evening, when Old Boys met ihd defeated Thorndon by 5 goals to nil.
