MISSION TO THE JEWS.
•, MOVEMENT IN THE DOMINION. Under the auspices of the New Zealand Evangelical Mission to tho Jews, a public meeting was held in tho Y.M.C.A. last evening. The Rev. Dr. Gibb presided over an attendance of about 10 people, including a number of . women. Dr. Gibb briefly referred to tho work done in New Zealand by the late Mr. Bertram, and stated that Mr. E. C. Ettmann, who was to address the meeting, was doing similar good work in Melbourne, It was proposed that Mr. Ettmann should visit Now Zealand for four months of the year in future, to spend a'month in the four centres, carrying on mission work. . Mr., Ettmann, after touching upon Ilia conversion, spoke of tho work he had dono in Holland, and of that which ho was now doing in • Australia. He illustrated many of tho difficulties that stood in tho way of tho Jews coming out in the faith, and explained tho exact sacrifice necessarily made by the Jew who became a Christian, Speaking of his present visit to New Zealand, Mr. Ettmann stated that he had already addressed meetings in Dnnedin and Christchureh. In Dunedin,
lie had no time for anything else, but in Christchnrch ho visited tho market places and shops and carried on tho work in different ways. Ho had discovered .there were "open doors" here, but where were the Christians? Mr. Ettmann rather reproached tho people hero for their laxity m tlio past, and pleaded for greater effort's and more sympathy with the work. Mi*. W. H. Kersley and Mr. Dimant also. spoke a few words in connection with tho New Zealand Mission.
