The ex-slaughtermen now on striko in Wellington, havo not up till tlio present followed the example set by their Canterbury brethren of acknowledging themselves beaten and returning to work on the killing boards; Yesterday precisely one striker offered hfmsslf for employment, and lie was given a hook in the Ngahauranga shed., A great many of the strikers in" southern sheds have, however, found their berths filled when they wished to go back to work, and it is expected that some of them may apply for work in Wellington. A meeting of tlio strikers' t union .was held on Saturday evening to discuss tho question of returning to work, but the' proposal tu resume was negatived by 70 votes to 7.
