In tho bowling competition, Carterton plays Greytown in tile. Centre Shield Match on Saturday. Messrs. Savage and Sowman have presented a trophy to members of tho Carterton Volunteer Eire Brigade for competition. The brigado has decided tli'at a one-man coupling Competition bo he'd to decide its possession. A daily rural mail delivery from Carterton to Carrington commences next week.
An age<l lady named Mrs. Harris, who resides with Mrs. H. Cook, Carterton, met with a severe accident on Wednesday evening, through some careless person throwing a piece of tomato on tho footpath. Mrs. Harris was walking along High Street, and when nearly opposite Broadway, trod upon this piece of refuse, with the result that sho fell heavily, and was bruised and shaken. Tho aged lady, who is seventy-nine years of age, had to bo assisted to her home.
