APRIL ELECTIONS. THE RESULT OF THE BALLOT. 'candidates chosen. Labour candidates for the April elections were announced last night. Some little time ago tho United Labour party decided on u ballot for tho selection of a fixed number of candidates for tho City Council, Harbour Hoard, and Hospital arid Charitablo Aid lioard. Over 3000 ballot papers were sent out, and the returns' are stated by the secretary (Mr. X,. 31. A. Bearden) to have "exceeded all expectations." The ballot closed 011 Tuesday last, and Labour officials were busy counting tho votes until G. 30 a.m. yesterday. Mr. D. M'Laren was not opposed as Labour candidate for the Mayoralty, but there was competition in all other cases. • Candidates ivere selected" as follow:— For the City Council:—AV. S. Bedford, E. J.
