Mr. G. J. Harford intends retiring fro*; the Pnlmorslon. Hospital Board' and tho Foxton Hnrbonr Bonrd, on which ho represents tho Fcilding' Borough Council. Mr. D. 11. Guthrie, M.P., has received a letter from tho Minister for Railways, stating Hint arrangements havo been liindo to provide for tlio conveyance of thirty trucks of live stock for freezing purposes daily from stations between. Marion and Fcilding by special train leaving Palmorston about 7.50 n.m., and arriving at l'clono at 4 p.m. Thirty'trucks from Wanganui and stations north thereof will be convoyed by special train from Falmerston at 3.50 p.m., and- will roach l'ctono at midnight. Thirty trucks will also bo convcycd by special train fiom 'l'ailiapo, Marton, and Wnngamii, and leave l'almorston by special train about 7.50 p.m., reaching Pctone at 3 a.m. Owing to tho slaughtermen's strike, these arrangements had not been brought in operation, but everything is in readiness, and tho arrangements will commence if the business under tlio altered conditions in respect to labour af'sumo sufficient proportions to justify tho running of tho trains as outlined.
