EASTER CARNIVAL.

In connection ivith tho forthcoming Easter Carnival, a meeting of representative* from Wellington bands was held in tho Mayor's worn at the Town Hair lost evening, tho Mayor presiding. Tho. following representatives were also in 'attendance! Messrs. H. Liar'det,;W. Whitlord (Tramways Band), A. Baker (City), H. M'Cormisli (Fifth, Ecgiment),- J. Wilson, A. Johnson, N. J. Connelly (Jnpp's Hand), A. Bevan,' G. Smith (Watersido Workers' Band), and A. 1 Shaw (Wellington Pipe Band). It was decided that a massed band performance be held at .Newtown Park on Easter Sunday, at which each band will play, one'or more items. Tho general secretary of tho carnival (Mr. M'Bain) will supply particulars of time for which each band'is required on each day of the carnival. Thij meeting was strongly of opinion that an up-to-date band rotunda should bo erected on' the carnival grounds before Easter. The next meeting of band representatives is to be held on March 8. Athletes, cricketers, footballers; : and members of 6ports clubs are invited to attend a public meeting 1111 the _ Council Chamber, Town Hall, in connection with the carnival. Tho meeting takes place next Thursday evening at 8: o'clock. '
