CITY COUNCIL BUSINESS.
At the requisition of a number of city councillors, a special meeting of tho council.is to bo held at 7.30 p.m. to-morrow week, to deal with the matter brought forward at the last meeting in the Reserves Committee's report, which the "Mayor ruled out as contravening standing orders. At that meeting a notice to rescind tlio. following notice of motion will bo considered:—That so much of tho following resolution of the council, passed on April 18, ag will admit' of nn area of Section 48 (to be selected) being leased to the Kelburno Bpwling Club for tho purpose of forming a bowling and croquet lawn, bo rescinded'"That with a view of making a start'with a comprehensive scheme to beautify the- Town Belt, the city engineer,, acting under instructions from the Reserves Committee, has submitted a plan to include tho block of ten acres lying t'o the west of Wellington Terraoe, known as Stction 48, Town The committee liayo approved tho plan,' and"recommend the immediate adoption of samo'so as to give the Department an opportunity ■ of making a start with tho work during the coming season. The estimated. cost, of the tvork, including fencing, planting, etc., is .£3OO. -The land, has already been cleared of gorse, and the uti-pint-ted portions after fences are erected can be let for grazing purposes in small blocks." , If the council pass the above rescinding motion,' the way will be open for Councillor Frost to move that section of the last roport' of the Reserves Committee (which was ruled out) as a netv motion,
