Mr. W. Farrelly has sold eut his property on the Shannon East Road to Mr. W. Harris, of Featherston.On. the Bowling Green last Saturday a Levin- rink, skipped by Mr. W. Wilson, played tho holders of the Kinniburpth .Feathers, a local rink slipped by Mr. Ivnowles, and defeated them, after a very closo game, by 24 points, to 20. The meeting that assembled At tho Druids' Hall'on Monday night, convened by Mr. J. R. Stansell, sen., for tho purposo of forming a .Town Board or Borough Council, was succsssful in every rcsptct exeept one—the object, for which it was called. . An unusually largs. number of residents attended, but no one present would act as chairman, and tho position was ultimately filled by the convener. The motion that tho township of Shannon should-l)o formed into a pelf-»overn-ing bodv was proposed and seconded, pro forma, .but, on-a show of hands, no ono present voted for it. Tho meeting, however, served esveral good purposed. . It brought forward . a nroposal' to ' raise a loan for drainage, lighting, and water supply, which project no doubt- will be heard move of in tho near future, but (n.< it was evident that Shannon_ could rain (lie win?' benefits, if the residents cared to pay for them, under the poveriijiier-t of the County Council, as it could under municipal or Town Board Eorormuent, without incurring the expenditure attendant on the formation nf such a local body), the conKWUs of oninion was that the time was premature for taking such a step.
