TAXI TARIFF.
OWNERS AND COUNCIL. (By Telcgraflh.-Prcsa Association.) , Auckland, .February 24.' A deputation representing the taxi-cab owners and drivers-of Auckland' waited upon the Finance Committee of tho Auckland Gity Council this morning; to urfeo a .revision of the tariff filed by Ihe city by-laws. The matter was fully iuquii'od into by the Financo Committee, and ultimately the deputation was asked to form-' ally submit a full programme of the amendments they desired to have l.adejin the .regulation charges. The chairjnan informed tho deputation that the omijcil would probably requiro the installation, of taximeters. Most of tho taxi-cab proprietors present stated their objection to.his proposal, and said -tho introduction tof taximeters wos regarded as unsatisfactory. The meeting was then adjournejl.
