RIFLE SHOOTING.

TRENTHAM, 1913. ENTRIES AND ARRANGEMENTS. Entries for the New Zealand Rifle Association's meeting, which begins at Trcntham on Thursday, are rather disappointing.' At present there are 325 entries, but it is anticipated that theso will eventually about 350. Considering that 400 competitors were expected at the very least, enthusiasts have had their ardour somewhat damped. However, most of tho crack mnrksmen have entered, and the list includes the following ex-champions: Capt. J. H. Ross, Rifleman Milroy, Lieut. W. Duncan, Riilenian G. Hyde, Rifleman J. King, Rifleman R. M. Irvine, and the present champion Rifleman Loveday. x ' /Most of the better-known clubs will bo represented, as, for instance, the following:—Karori, Christchurch, Okawa, Opaki, Auckland City, Wanganui, Wellington Suburbs) and Kaponga. The range is reported to bo in good order, the grass has been cut, the trenches attended to, new telephones have been installed, and the targets have been repapered. The association has taken ovor tho camp of the Fifth Regiment, and a detachment, of R.N.Z.A., under Captain Sandle, went out yes'erday morning to mako the necessary alterations -requisite to turn a regimental camp into a rifle association meeting's camp. ■ The following is the executive staff:— Colonel R. J. Collins, C.M.G., chief executive officer; Lieut-Colonel R. Hughes, V.D., superintendent range officer; Colonel J. R. Pufdv,'medical officer; Captain S. G. Sandle,' in charge R.N.Z.A.; Captain S. A. Grant, camp adjutant; Captain F. Burton Mabin, quartermaster; Captain S. Bolton, statistical officer; Captain'J. G; Roache, secretary. Besides those mentioned abova there will be about twenty range officers, nearly all of whom are "old hands." _ It,is anticipa'ed that the meeting will be concluded on Thursday week. His Excellency the 1 Governor -- has notified that, if he is still in residence in Wellington, lie will go out to the range during- the week.
