WRECKAGE SIGHTED.
IN PATH OF EAST !COAST BOATS. , . The Marine Department have been advised that two steamers voyagingi from southern to northern ports report having passed a' quantity' of wreckage'.between, Wellington and Napier on Saturday last'.. A report received from the Collector of Customs at Napier stated that at J p.m. on Saturday the master of--., the steamer Natal Transport sighted a spar floating upright, presumably attached to submerged wreckage. The position was lat. 43deg. lGmin. south and "hong. 173deg. 58min.t-east. It was considered.that the wreckage was a danger, to navigation.: -.'• The master of the Kowhai also reported the: wreckage, and added that the .sea. was too rough to launch a boat foroldror inspection. ..When seen by the Kowhai 'the position was lat. Meg. sGmin. south and long. ,l<6dcg. '33>miu.' oast. .
