FUNDS WANTED.

PRESBY'TERIAN LADIES' COLLEGE,

"In to-day's '-Dominion" writes the Rev. : James Puterson, under Saturdays date, "there-is a Press' Association parajranh (Woman's World column) regarding the Presbyterian. Ladies' College, Haveloek North, in which'a mistake occurs which should be. corrected.. It says: The site for the college was given by Mr. H. JU.. Campbell, M.T.' That is the inaccuracy. The donor of tho site is Mr. Hugh Campbell, of Br'eadalbine., He gave ci?ht' acres as'a site for tho college, and subsequently Mr. Mason Chambers gave four adjoining acres. These twelve acres are in the immediate neighbourhood of iHavelock township and form, ft very fine l sito for the college being ■ high inv situation'and-- 'commanding a beautiful and extensive view. Tho generosity of the donors of those; acres has' been well seconded by liberal.subscriptions' toward the' building from residents iu that district and others outside of it. As.stfitod in the paragraph a sum of between .£2OOO and ,£3000! has been subscribed and the great bulk of that has come from that part of Hnwke's Bay. But considerably more must be' subscribed before the committee can ferf warranted in' actually beginning the building. If is' hoped.that friends will at once come forward and assist. It may bo stated, that while Mr. H. M. Campbell, M.P., of'Pukawa, is not tho 'donor of the sito ho is in hearty sympathy with tho proposed college, and is a very liberal subscriber toward its. erection. A great effort is now being mado to 'increaso the finances eo that steps may at once be taken to begin the building. Tho Rev. Alex. Grant, of Dannevdrke, my co-convener, has issued •nn earnest appeal to the ministers -and others of the Presbyterian Church to h'elo by their influence and efforts in promoting this object, and it is hoped that this appeal may call forth a hearty resnonse. The committee are anxious that the collego should be ready for opening by this time next year."
