MASTERTON RAM FAIR.
(By Tolograph —Prcai Association.) * Masterton, February 21. The MastcTton ram fair, which was tho most successful in the history of tfio local association, concluded to-day with a solo of Eonmeys, and Shropshires. There was good competition. The highest prico obtained was 100 guineas for a Eomney rani bred by tho. Eiddiford Estate. Flock liomiieys fetched to (ij guineas. Leicesters and Shropshires were only in fair demand. .
I Alessrs. Dalyety and Co. report;— The annual fixture was brought to a closo yesterday, when stud and floqli Eomneys, Shropshires, and English Leicesters wcro ollcred. Tho appointments for the working of the fair wero again very complete, and tho heavy yarding ivas put through without a 'hitch. Credit is duo to .Messrs. E. Cooper, W. Watson, and their staff of assistants for the manner in which tho entry was. handled. It was generally recognised, before the sale of Eomneys started, that a great numbor of breeders had purchased their requirements in Eomney rams earlier , in the season, and, on this account, it was thought that such purchases might affect tho demand of yeserday's fair. This, however, was'not tho case, and. vendors of rnm3 which showed quality and condition have done better on tho fair (as sales) than, on their private ones. The quality of the yarding was good,, and sound prices were paid for good sheep. We offered some exceptionally good sheep, notably those from the flocks of Messrs. J.-M'Leod, Quinton, Donald, AV. H.'Buiclc, Gray Bros., J. H. Sykes, 11. Eiddiford, Bland, Eayner, Percy Bros;, and others. Some of our leading Eomney sales were as'under;—Flock Eomneys: On account of Mr. Q.
