The proceedings of • tlio . City Council meeting on Thursday evening were' brought to a rather/sudden conclusion when little inoro' than half tlio business 'scheduled for the meeting had been dealt with. The "full stop" was brought by a motion moved by, Councillor Frost that the council should adjourn, which motion was carried. The action, of Councillor l'rost had its'motive in the Mayor ruling out of order a proposal to amend a'clauso m tlio report of the Keserv/es Committee which recommended that a start bo mado in beautifying tlio city by-(l) fencing, planting etc.. a ■ ten-aqro block of the Town Block (section 48), to tho lvest of Wellington Terraco;-and (2) granting a lease of portion of tho ramo block to the Ivelburne Bowling' Club. ' This the Mayor stated would havo to be ruled out of order, as tho recommendation was a contravention of tho Standing Orders.
